DECEMBER 14th “CELEBRATION BEYOND THE SPECTRUM”:
AUTISM HOLIDAY FUN AT LEGOLAND DISCOVERY CENTER PHILADELPHIA
Philadelphia, PA… Jaden’s Voice presented their 3rd annual free “Celebration Beyond the Spectrum: No Excuses, No Apologies” holiday event. The festivities took place on Friday, December 14th from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at LEGOLAND Discovery Center 500 W. Germantown Pike, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
Chantee Lans, Reporter for NBC3 and The CW Philly hosted the free sold-out autism event. Over 500 families registered at jadensvoice.eventbrite.com.
Our major sponsors included LEGOLAND Discovery Center, Merlin Magic Wand Entertainment and Aetna, as well as our partners Kamp for Kids, NFL Alumni and A Humble Heart, Inc. The children received coats by Operation Warm Coats. They were treated to a surprise by Santa & The Roberts Group as each child received wrapped toys.
The event received donations from Doc Bresler, Just Born Candy Company, Shoprite, Franklin Institute, Fresh Grocer, Applebees, Camelback Lodge, Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Flyers, Chick-Fil-A, The Royal Women’s Court, Dr. Caplin and Andrea O’Neal.
The main purpose of the event was to provide an outlet where families can celebrate the unique differences of those loved ones impacted by autism with no excuses or apologies.
Families enjoyed full access to LEGOLAND, MINILAND, Pirate Adventure Island, Imagination Express Ride, 4D Cinema, model building, LEGO® NINJAGO Training Camp and the new LEGO City: Arctic Adventure. Photo opportunities were taken with LEGO Santa. Steps were taken to accommodate sensory triggers throughout each component of the attraction including dimmed lighting, lowered sound, and alternate 2D and 4D showings catered to all guests in the LEGO® 4D Cinema. A Quiet Space was provided with beanbags, fuzzy carpets, dimmed lighting, soft LEGO® brick, and no music to allow any guest a safe space when needed.
“When you connect and partner with change-driven organizations it makes the world a better place! Together we embrace families with love, support, and resources. It’s collaborations like these that shows families that we are willing to take action to serve those in need. I personally enjoy connecting with each family and seeing the smiling faces of the children,” stated Terri Matthews, Founder and CEO of Jaden’s Voice. “Our goal is to create a world more aware and inclusive of autism.”
At this Jaden’s Voice hosted event, the message was loud and clear: “Support is always available. You are Not Alone!”
